Rats.... It looks like I somehow deleted the post with the pictures of my roving and my Lamb's Pride. I think it may still be on my work computer. So if you find anything confusing here, hang on, it might be fixed on Monday. I know. Flakey of me. It's not the heat, it's the stupidity...

Smells like the art teacher's office! Just kidding, Stella is on the straight & narrow, but that is a sound clip on KFOG, my favorite radio station ever. World class rock, man. Tell me whose voice it is and you win a secret PRIZE!

It's way hot out here which goes along with the off-season seasons in SF - fog in summer, hot in fall, rain in winter... so my goal this weekend is to stay cool. Maybe I'll drive up to San Rafael to go to Dharma Trading ). I'd like to bike but it's so d**n hot - 94F - I don't want to shrivel up like a dried out jellyfish up in Marin. I want to check out the Wool-Ease Cotton Ease! Claudia is knitting with, 'cause I'm fantasizing about a ribby cardie, and I think they have it up there.

I've been knitting the yoke for the top down baby raglan from my homespun yarn and I think it looks fantastic (yeah, I know, how immodest of me to be praising my own work). I think it looks very Noro-ish. Of couse, I cheated on the gauge and my yoke is not as long as it should be after I've done all the increases. Hmmm. I need to tweak it, or do some extreme ripping later. Or, just start a new project. Whatever. Rowan #27 looks really tempting, too.

Yarn today, bike tomorrow. My decision for the day.

Oh, and go welcome Silvia to the knitblogs! (Lord, now there's TWO of 'em!!!)

Stella won some fiber on Ebay. It was such a bargain. 1 pound for $5. Sounds too good to be true, doesn't it! We shall see... :) And I washed the Shades of Sky yarn. I have an Anne Norling pattern which teaches how to make raglan baby sweater, for any gauge. I hope this yarn will be soft enough.

Here is the Lambs Pride I'd like to trade for some sock yarn:

OK, I got over the bike sale. I guess I just needed to validate my feelings there for a minute. The cash certainly helps!

I'm also in some kind of a funk. Nothing seems fun or exciting, nothing thrills me. Everything is boring. Is it some kind of post-partum depression over the cable jacket? Or is the full moon? Or the collective unconscious about the 9/11?

I don't think I'll be doing the Pooh bear jacket after all. At least not out of the Lambs Pride Superwash. I don't think it's soooft enough for the babay. I have 3 balls of Ocean Sky, 1 of Saffron yellow and 1 red. If anyone is interested in trading it for their sock yarn (ball per ball) that would be cool! Talk to me, gentle reader.

I sold my bikey. I feel like I just broke up. It's that same numb feeling in my hands and arms I had before. Dude. I knew I was attached to it but this is an intense feeling. But hey, I've got 46% of the new bike financed now.... and a nice girl bought it who just got massage therapy certified and she was really happy to ride it home.

Finished the cable jacket!

Click it for a bigger view.

I was a little nervous about the zipper but Kate kindly pointed out Bonne's tips for me. I followed them pretty closely, except I had already sewed the jacket together. That made it a little difficult to feed it through the machine without drag. But it worked like a charm! I'm proud. This is the most difficult piece I've ever knitted. It's time for something easy and relaxing. While I was on a roll, I worked on the Saffron sleeve, and it's very close to being finished. One more sleeve to go!

I also made this chocolate zucchini bread yesterday. I found the site via Super Eggplant. Thanks Mariko!

Good Things are happening. I am 99% done with the cable jacket! It needs a zipper. And I am very very hesitant to put one in. Everytime I've tried to do a zipper on sewing projects, it needed a couple of attempts. I don't want to pick out thread stitches from my knitting. I don't want to see my knitting disappear into the throat plate. I'd feel better if I could use the walking foot, but the zipper foot is daunting. I have to do some research.

This morning, I picked up the Saffron sleeve. It was further along than I thought! I knitted about 12 rows, then I measured, and it's at 39cm. At 41 cm, I get to start the sleevecap shaping. Awesome.

I rode my bike to Imagiknit yesterday - knitting & biking = chocolate & peanut butter! I was nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. I didn't bring my lock, so I parked the bike inside the store. I was so afraid someone would complain. I saw the most gorgeous male in the store: tall, blond, wearing shorts, muscular, smiled at me and laughed at my jokes. But really, what's my chance that a boy in a yarnstore 2 blocks from Castro is actually straight?! Zero, dear. <sigh> But he was straight acting! Well, sometimes they trick ya. Back to the point of this paragraph. I bought some Lamb's Pride Superwash for the Pooh Bear vest. The colors & gauge are just perfect. But now I'm fretting that it might be too scratchy for sensitive 2-year-old skin. I made a cute little matching purse to go with it to practice my intarsia skills first. I'll show you that one tomorrow. If you, gentle reader, have been knitting with LP Superwash before, what do you think - soft or scratchy?

One more good thing - I sold the sheet music cabinet. The first thing from my cybergarage sale! Yay!

We had a little earthquake yesterday. I was in the office, actually working late, when I heard this big crash. I thought it was a sudden rainstorm because we have 2 big skylights. But then I saw my computer monitor shaking back and forth. Then I realized the entire building was swaying and I thought "oh f***!" since I have no place to hide. I guess under my desk would be the safest. But it stopped, and I got out of here as fast as I could. This is a decrepit brick building and I didn't want to be around for aftershocks. I rode my bike home and there were fire engines and alarms everywhere. But nothing really broke. So we are ok. Here are the stats at my favorite earthquake website. Note the quality of this one was "excellent." Whatever.

Besides that, I finally got around to scanning the Japanese Winne the Pooh pattern I want to make for my little niecie, Julia.

Here is the pattern - just FYI - don't send the copyright police after me, please. If you think you could help me with this, just in case I have questions later on, please, raise your hand (in the comments, if they are working).

Cable Jacket progress - oh, so close! One more side/sleeve seam, and finish the hood. This weekend. For sure. I wanna wear it Monday.

The celery colored Cascade 220 should be arriving shortly at LYS - yeah! It's going to be the cardie from VK, which Anna is also tempted to make.

Just a quickie today. I feel like it's Monday and it sucks. I forgot the Japanese pattern book at home so I can't scan it for you, yet. Tomorrow for sure!

I wove in all the ends on the cable jacket last night. I also did the very cool 3-needle bind off at the shoulder seams. I got the pattern to match up. Now I'm knitting the hood. But I'm very worried that it might be too small.

Anyhow, here is a little *finished* in-between project:

In other crafty news, I found a mirror yesterday on the sidewalk, discarded by my neighbors. I had the bright idea to strip the frame. So far, I've stripped 3 layers of paint and no wood is in sight. I'm using 3M Safest stripper, at least that stuff has no poisonous fumes. That wood better be beautiful when it surfaces!

I was right about the Japanese. They are the kings of cute. I went to Kinokuniya bookstore in Japantown and I found 2 adorable kids knitting books - one with Hello Kitty patterns for my own inner child (as we say in Northern California) and one with Disney Characters, which has Winnie the Pooh patterns in it. I don't know Japanese (except for the one character for "stitch") but the patterns have tons of illustrations and charts. Numbers are the same characters as we use. I like a challenge!

I'm kind of pissed Debbie Bliss though. It seemed weird to me that the fronts of the cable jacket used less than half the amount stitches cast on for the back. Total of 4 less, which is about 1". Yesterday, Gina said to check her errata site, and yes, there are several mistakes in the pattern. What the...?! Don't these people proofread? What am I supposed to do - knit the fronts again? Nooo. Way. I've already done the back twice, remember? I'm going to pick up stitches along the button band and make it a little wider, and I'm going to cheat at the shoulder seams and match up the pattern somehow. But really. How lame is that.

Anyway. :) The second sleeve is almost done, so I'll be able to show a finished sweater soon!!!
